Don’t suffer alone.
How we help you find relief
We use a series of techniques tailored to you and your unique issue to relieve you of discomfort. We use a two phase system to bring relief and better mobility.
Phase I Complete Decongestive Therapy(TM)
-
MLD is a specific pattern of very slow, light, and rhythmic stretching of the skin in circular movements to simulate the lymphatic vessels and nodes.
Through consistent MLD, alternative pathways are created by re-routing stagnant fluid to healthy lymphatic vessels and nodes.
-
We use “short” stretch bandages (not ACE bandages) to prevent the re-accumulation of lymphatic fluid. Also, we apply Kinesio Tape to reduce pain and inflammation.
Compression bandages increase the efficiency of the muscle and joint pumps and is used until the limb is sufficiently reduced to be fitted for compression garments.
-
Remedial range of motion exercises, with the bandages in place, enhance the movement of lymph fluid out of the limb by activating the muscle and joint pump.
Instruction in diaphragmatic breathing exercises improves lymphatic flow. Each exercise program is customized depending on the patient’s needs.
-
Meticulous skin and nail care inspection is essential to observe for any sign of bacterial or fungal infection.
Before each bandaging session, pH balanced moisturizing skin lotion is applied to the skin.
We work along with local wound care centers and physicians following wound care protocols.

About Compression Garments
How and why compression therapy works
In Phase II of our treatment plan, compression garments are used for compression therapy. Just as the bandages compress tissues when muscle is in motion, compression garments encourage the flow of lymph, which results in less swelling. Compression garments maintain the volume decreases of lymphedema.
Types of compression
Flat-knit garments: These garments are sewn in a special way that allow them to be shaped like a leg or an arm. This type of garment is especially helpful for those who have larger limbs or more progressed lymphedema.
Circular knit: These garments are seamless and shaped like tubes. They have more stretch and are best for those who have less severe cases of lymphedema.
